While pregnant with my son August I commissioned Ida Pearle to create a piece for me to give to my husband upon our son's birth. It was of a boy and his dog in a grassy field on an autumn day flying a kite as two sailboats gently floated by. We were living just two blocks from Lake Michigan and had our wedding reception in the antique bath house in the lake park years prior.
Ida was so great to work with...she patiently listened to me describe our wire fox terrier Skone in detail and then created him out of paper! And she matched the boy's skin tone and hair color to be exactly what I envisioned our unborn son to look like (and luckily I was right!). As you can imagine, the custom piece was the best gift I've ever given my husband. And I love telling our son about me working with Ida and dreaming of him growing and simply playing in the park with his dog.
As you can see from the examples here, Ida Pearle's artwork is simply stunning. Her pieces are cut-paper...yes, each little thing you see in these images was cut from paper and glued by Ida's hands. Her attention to detail and use of color and print is stunning!
In addition to her custom work, she also offers prints, alphabet card sets, as well as custom name pieces...and she'll match your child's hair and skin tone.
