The Little Seed for Target

The Little Seed is a shop started by Soleil Moon Frye (yes, Punky Brewster herself) and her business partner Paige Goldbert. Their brick and mortar store, along with their webshop, feature collections of many of the great products you've seen featured here on this blog. They have also produced some of their own Little Seed clothing. But the latest news is the most exciting...they've partnered with Target!

As expected, all of the items are made with 100% organic cotton...and are priced from $7.99 to $12.99. The line includes clothing, hooded towels, bibs, blankets and more! The colors are fun and bright! Great for mixing and matching! And you won't have to bear through any excess packaging as it is all is eco-friendly without the use of plastic.

Plain Mary: Breast Cancer Awareness

I wrote about Plain Mary's amazing Kensington Baby Play Mats last year. And for Hazel's first 9 months of life, not a day went by that she wasn't on her amazingly soft and quilted mat. And despite the spills and spit up it encountered in it's daily use, there is not a stain on it. Everything washed right out! The fabric is practically bullet-proof...while being the softest thing in the house!

The other great thing about the Kensington Baby Play Mat, now looking forward, is that it's something that I will always have. I'm debating whether to make it an heirloom, or if it should be a parade/soccer game watching mat. But whatever I decide, it will definitely continue to be used for years and years!

But now, in addition to it being a wonderful product, there's another great reason to purchase one...20% of the proceeds from the sale will to go the National Breast Cancer Foundation! In fact, 20% of all sales of Plain Mary products found on their PINK page, will be donated through October 31! This includes their super cute miniature suitcases, burp clothes, bibs, and shirts!

Visit plainmary.com/brcaawgi to view their PINK collection! You'll love your products, and you'll be giving to a good cause!

Olli & Pop

In the interest of full disclosure, as a skateboarding fan, I like anything with a variation of the word ollie in it. But that's not the only reason I'm excited about Olli & Pop's Spill Cloths...there are many other selling points...here's just a few:
  1. The colors, stripes and dots! These clothes are vibrant, fun, eye-catching and cheerful...just the thing you need when you're getting spit up on, nursing in public, or playing peek-a-boo with your baby!
  2. The size! These are a bit larger than your average burp cloth as they measure 11.8" by 17.7" (30 cm by 45 cm). Olli & Pop's Spill Cloths are great for burping, changing mats, privacy shields when breastfeeding, bibs when drooling or learning to drink from a cup, etc. The size makes them extremely multifunctional!
  3. The fabric! The cloths are made from fully absorbent terry towelling on one side and an incredibly soft, light-weight cotton blend on the other. The double thickness ensures the heaviest of spills are absorbed...or that they're super soft on your baby's skin!
  4. The name! Perhaps your little one will be the next Tony Hawk! And then you can retire early! Just maybe!
Visit olliandpop.com for more information and to shop their online store (or for purchase locations if outside of Australia). I've also found a lot of online retailers that ship to the Unites States, such as thehipinfant.com, where they sell for $29.95 a pair.

Sama Baby

SAMA is an ancient Sanskrit word which means balance, calmness and serenity. And not surprisingly, that sums up the romper I received from Sama Baby's Elephant Collection (and their company philosophy, but more on that later).

The romper is buttery soft and just what you want to place on your newborn baby's skin. I love their simple color options of vanilla, white, pink and blue where there is something for everyone...although the vanilla is my favorite! Their pieces are perfect for giving when visiting a new baby or at a baby shower...it's sure to be passed around for everyone to feel the softness.

All Sama Baby products are created under fair trade conditions using 100% certified organic cotton and earth-friendly dyes...and all orders come shipped in recycled cardboard boxes with biodegradable shipping peanuts. And Sama donates a portion of their profits to various charities and non-profits such as Native Energy, CRY: Child Relief and You and the communities where their fair trade products are created.

Visit samababy.com where prices range from $6.00 to $40.00.

Burp Armor

Burp Armor is one of my favorite new must-haves for parents. Even my husband, who is not easy to impress, had nothing but good things to say about the burp cloth that came in the mail...perhaps due to the fact that it is designed by a fellow dad and he saw the practicality of it.

Burp Armor is made in the United States from 45% organic cotton and 55% sustainable hemp. Your order arrives in recyclable packaging pre-washed in organic soap making them super soft and ready for use. And all inks used are soy-based making these the most eco-friendly burp cloth possible.

The icing on the cake is that they also look fantastic, the shape makes them stay put on your shoulder, and they are extra-thick as they're composed of three layers...true armor for your shoulder. I can almost not wait for my newborn to spit up on me in two months. Almost.

Don't be surprised if your Burp Armor quickly becomes a soft, cuddly lovie...it's been known to happen. They're a great size for toddlers to carry around, and the feeling of the fleece next to their face may be comforting as they recall being close to you as they grew.

Visit burparmor.com where prices start at $25.00.

Jubi

I believe every baby should be pampered with kisses, music, and love...and soft clothing. Which is why I'll be purchasing some new items for my little one on the way despite my already having both a son and a daugther. And most of the pieces I'm purchasing for their baby brother or sister (we should find out in nine days!) will be from Jubi...one of my new loves!

When I pulled the first piece of Jubi clothing from it's packaging, I was in LOVE! I called my husband over to have a feel and we both agreed we wished there were adult sizes available. The texture is unbelievably soft and the weight is more substantial that a normal bodysuit or sleep sack. To sum it up, it's perfection! And as a side note, the packaging is made of formaldehyde-free PVA (poly-vinyl alcohol polymer), which is water soluble, totally biodegradable, and perfect for storing in your diaper bag to hold your dirties when out and about.

Jubi's colors are soft, classic and neutral, and are just what I look for when purchasing items for my children. Their styles and products are contemporary and have an evident European-influence. The first time I saw their pieces on the computer I wanted to reach through the screen to have a feel.

In addition to clothing, Jubi offers products for mealtime, bath time and bedding items. Their sheets are made from 100% cotton using a water-based bleaching process...they are much thicker and softer than average tee shirt sheets. I haven't experience them first-hand (yet!), but one NY mom who uses the fitted crib sheets mentioned that her child suffers from a sensory condition and Jubi sheets, which are so soft, are the only sheets her toddler can sleep on throughout the night - what a heaven sent!

If you'd like to experience Jubi for yourself, visit jubi.us.com where all items ship free to the United States! And if your order is over $50.00, email sales@jubi.us.com (put "UGGA MUGGA" in your subject line) and you will receive a free white long sleeve kimono bodysuit. In your email be sure to insert the size of your choice (0-3, 3-6, 6-12).

Funkie Baby

Funkie Baby makes bibs, burp cloths (Burpies) and little mats that can be used for infant tummy time or as a changing mat (Go Mats). I'm in love with their modern yet vintage fabric designs. The examples shown here are only a few of their timeless looks.

Each of their three items are made using a triple layer technique with the front and the back being cotton, but the middle being a soft, soak-proof lining. And all are machine washable!

The Bibs are very generously sized keeping your child clean and dry. They're soft and great for wearing during those drooling, teething days...the triple layers keep your baby nice and dry! The Burpies are also large enough to keep your shoulder clean and soft enough to keep your baby comfortable.

And the Go Mats, I can't tell you enough how much I love these! They fold up quite small (even with the triple layer design) and are perfect for stashing in your bag for either your mom's club meeting where you can let baby out of their car seat and put them safely on to a clean surface for some tummy time. Or you can keep one in the car for unexpected diaper changes.

Visit funkiebaby.com to find a retailer near you and for a list of online stores.

Baby Star

A lot of the products I write about on Ugga Mugga were invented by parents...and Baby Star textiles fall into that category. After the birth of their first son, new parents Dana and Bo wanted hip and soft products for their new little star...and Baby Star was launched.

Their blankets are soft...really, really soft! And their designs are very hip and current. And they've recently branched out to include clothing and hooded towels in their line...along with adding some great new patterns like the daisy chain outfit above.

In addition to the items I've already mentioned, Baby Star's collections include bedding, bibs, burp cloths, and quick change bags to hold all of your diapering essentials. All of these items are perfect for baby showers and new babies who deserve items nearly as soft as they are. And you can't get any softer than Baby Star!

Visit babystar.com to see their full collection and to order.
