Puffy Paint Recipe

With the real life snow globe we're living in this weekend I thought, I should mix up a bath of puffy paint this week! So, I thought I'd share the idea with the rest of you who want to craft along with us.

The texture is unlike any other kids feel on a daily basis and they can't help but sink their hands right in. It's great as a sensory exploration with hard objects hidden inside for kids to find...it's also great to paint with. The picture here is from the first batch I ever made. August painted with it after a base layer of finger paint and then added cloves as eyes and buttons and real sticks for arms.

To mix up your own puffy paint, you place equal parts white glue and shaving cream (the good old fashioned kind...not the gel). Beat them with a mixer for 2-3 minutes and you're all set to go. You can add glitter if you want or food coloring...or use it white as snow.

When the puffy paint dries it keeps the air inside and stays puffy...but hard. It's great fun! Enjoy!
