Moon Sand Recipe

We're back to sub-zero temperatures this weekend in my neck of the woods. If you too are stuck indoors for the next few days, you may be looking for something to keep your kids entertained...and your sanity in check. So, I present to you, a recipe for Moon Sand:

Ingredients:
  • 6 cups of play sand
  • 3 cups of cornstarch
  • 1-1/2 cups of cold water
Directions:
  1. Mix the water and cornstarch together thoroughly, this will take a few minutes to get it nice and smooth.
  2. Gradually mix in the sand, one cup at a time. You'll need to really work it in with your fingers.
  3. Play with it!
  4. When you're finished, pop it in an airtight container.
  5. When you next play with it, you'll need to revive it with 2-3 tablespoons of water. Just sprinkle it over and work it in.
That's all there is to it. Very cheap, very easy, and the kids will get to play with heaps of the stuff. Play sand also comes in different colors, so purchase different colored bags to mix things up a little!

  1. Not sure my previous email worked...but, I am looking for a rug to have in front of our crib. My ideal would be organic and high pile. Your thoughts are much appreciated.
