Chickin Feed

My parents started me early down a healthy living path with my father leading by example. It was easy for him being a captain on the fire department in my hometown and as a competing body builder in my early years. But I also remember him often pulling the car over a few miles from home and declaring my mom would drive us the rest of the way because he was going to run home.

Although I don't go on impromptu runs while out driving with my family (what a silly thing to do, Dad!), I am setting my children down the same healthy living path. They are all, like me, vegetarians who are educated in food preparation, healthy choices, and the importance of physical activity. We grow almost all of our fruits and vegetables in the summer months, and I'm proud to say that they have never had a single bite of fast food.

I've been fortunate to only have experienced pregnancy during the summer months once. It was last summer, so the memories are fresh.

Clark's Spa Thong Sandals

Last summer I pondered whether to order these Clark's flip flops from Garnet Hill and waited too long...they were sold out in most colors in my size by the time I was prepared to make my purchase. I am in LOVE with these E-Racer cars from HaPe! Made from sustainable bamboo and colored with nontoxic water-based paint, these are some incredibly sporty and environmentally friendly cars!

In addition to being safe and green, they are also really streamlined...and when you push them ever so slightly, they really take off and glide quickly and smoothly. Snikiddy

My daughter Martha and I have been going bananas for nacho cheese Snikiddy puffs this week! We've eaten more than our share and I've found that if I don't portion into bowls, we'd have no trouble eating an entire bag in one sitting...leave it to use to take a healthy snack and indulge!

The Chalkboard Tee

Last week, I brought the mail in and called my son August over to open a package from The Chalkboard Tee. He tore into it, layed the shirt down, picked up a piece of included chalk and began to write his name. Then he put the shirt on, tucked the chalk into the holster and declared, "This is so cool!"

Really, how much more can I add to a review about a shirt for children when you have a rave first-hand experience from a five-year-old already on the page? Just some facts, I suppose:

I expected the shirt to be a bit stiff, but it's really very soft due to the chalkboard being printed on, not sewn. A couple pieces of chalk (no special kind so it's easy to replace) come with the shirt, and there is a place on the hem of the shirt where your child can tote one piece for future shirt artwork. As long as you remember to remove that one piece of chalk, there will be no trouble washing your Chalkboard Tee with your other laundry.
